U.S. Rep. Ed Perlmutter, the long-time congressman for Colorado's 7th District, was the distinguished speaker at today's ceremony. A total of 277 Orediggers were granted bachelor's degrees — including 11 members of the Mines football team playing in the NCAA DII Football Championship Game on Saturday.

The MOU between the two universities establishes a framework for collaboration on multiple fronts, including research, student and faculty learning and professional experiences.

Colorado Gov. Jared Polis joined Andrew Forrest, founder and executive chairman of Australia-based Fortescue Future Industries (FFI), to announce FFI’s decision to establish a Technology Hub in Colorado that will create more than 150 local jobs.

The keynote speaker at the undergraduate ceremonies will be Jesus Salazar ‘01 MS ‘02, chairman of the Mines Board of Trustees and co-founder and CEO of Prosono.

"These rankings confirm something that we strongly believe in: Colorado School of Mines is place where you can change your future and your family’s future,” Mines President Paul. C. Johnson said.

Mines conferred a total of 284 bachelor’s degrees during the in-person ceremony at Lockridge Arena on Dec. 17, 2021.

Undergraduate Commencement will kick off the day’s festivities at 9 a.m. in Lockridge Arena. Graduate Commencement will follow at 2 p.m. in the same location.

John Trefny, the 15th president of Colorado School of Mines and professor emeritus of physics, has been named a 2021 Sigma Xi Fellow.

Prior to the public launch, $226 million has already been raised in lead gifts and privately funded research grants in support of the university’s MINES@150 strategic plan.

Mines students began moving into the apartment-style residence hall Aug.1 in advance of the first day of fall classes on Aug. 24.
