Why did you choose to come to Mines? What have you enjoyed most about being here?

I have enjoyed most getting to meet people—students, faculty and professors. People are so supportive at Mines and it has been amazing getting to hear everyone's stories.

Have you done an internship or co-op or been in a professional job while at Mines? Tell us who you worked for and what you were doing. What stands out?

I had an internship at Transamerica as a data science intern. I was able to work on projects with stakeholders and understand how the life insurance industry operates. I am thankful Mines values a well-rounded student so I was able to be far ahead on the communication and professional side of things as well as the technical.

What communities, groups or organizations—on- and off-campus—are important to you and why?

Our environmental and sustainability organizations are making a lasting impact not just on our campus, but also on Golden and everyone surrounding us. I appreciate athletics, including IM and Club Sports, but also our clubs such as the amazing rock climbing community we have. No matter what your interests are, there is a community for you here.

What are your plans for the future? What's your dream job?

I hope to work with data to help my organization make key business decisions. It is awesome that the research and models I can make can and will impact organizations, stakeholders and even everyday consumers.

What would you tell someone interested in joining your academic program or Mines in general?

You can tailor your time here to match your career goals. From a highly diverse and flexible set of electives to amazing organizations and communities to develop yourself in and outside the classes—there is no shortage of things to do to find your passion.

What's your favorite thing to do outside of class and coursework? How do you unwind, manage stress, find fulfillment, etc.?

Being outside! Golden is a beautiful town and there is so much to do. Being in close proximity to the mountains allows for world-class hiking and skiing that is difficult to match around the world.

Tell us something about you that most people would be surprised to learn?

I had never coded in my life before coming to Mines
