Mines students begin move-in to expanded Village at Mines Park

$151 million project designed to house juniors, seniors and graduate students
Mines Park move in

Students began moving into the newly expanded and renovated Village at Mines Park on August 1, 2025.

Colorado School of Mines has more than double its on-campus housing for graduate and upper-division undergraduate students with the opening of the newly redeveloped and renovated Village at Mines Park. An open house and ribbon cutting for the Village at Mines Park is scheduled for Aug. 22, 2025.

Located off 19th Street on the west side of U.S. 6, the $151 million student housing project increases the bed count at Mines Park from 495 to 1,058.

Construction began in Fall 2023 in partnership with student housing developer Capstone Development Partners

Here’s what’s included in the reenvisioned apartment-style community:
•    Five new apartment buildings with a mix of studio, 2 and 4-bedroom units
•    19 smaller apartment buildings that were renovated from top to bottom
•    Cafe
•    Fitness center
•    Indoor and outdoor common spaces for gatherings and studying
•    Walking paths
•    Playground
•    Ore Cart shuttle to the main Mines campus

“We are thrilled to welcome student residents to the Village at Mines Park. Residents will enjoy the independence of apartment living while also benefiting from the amenities and supports that the university designed specifically to meet Mines students’ needs,” said Braelin Pantel, vice president of student life. “A special thanks to our partners with Capstone for working alongside Mines to create a community that will support Orediggers’ educational pursuits for years to come.”

This fall, Scully’s Coffee will also open at the Village at Mines Park inside the Quarry Lounge. The cafe will be owned and operated by the proprietor of Scully’s Coffee Camper, a familiar Golden eatery and Golden Farmer’s Market establishment. Scully’s Coffee will be open to serve members of the public, along with the Mines community, with operating hours and menu details to come.

The Village at Mines Park is the first of two major investments in Mines student housing set open over the next year. In Fall 2026, an 800-bed apartment-style building on 19th Street across from the Starzer Welcome Center will welcome its first residents, allowing Mines to house its sophomore class on campus.
