#idigmines: Celebrate a decade of love for Mines

graphic with blaster and text 'show your oredigger love for mines #idigmines giving day'

The Oredigger community is gearing up to celebrate a milestone moment: the 10th anniversary of #idigmines Giving Day. On Feb. 12, faculty, staff, students, alumni, parents and friends will come together once again to show just how much they love Mines.

This year’s celebration is bigger than ever. More than 50 featured departments and programs will compete for over $100,000 in bonus funding, turning every gift into a chance to fuel student success, campus excellence and the strength of Mines for generations to come.

For 10 years, #idigmines has been the heartbeat of giving at Mines. It’s the one day each year when Orediggers on campus, across the country and around the world unite to make an immediate impact. It’s also a day packed with energy, creativity and friendly competition, with plenty of opportunities to unlock extra funds for the causes you dig most.

Mines Coffee, Cocoa and Trivia

Campus Treasure Hunt

Feb. 12, 9 a.m.–4 p.m.

Let’s go mining for gold. Twenty 3D-printed Golden Blasters will be hidden across campus by 9 a.m. Find one before 4 p.m., snap a selfie with Blaster and unlock $150 for the campus cause you love most. Follow @minessail on Instagram for clues throughout the day.

Student Heart Decorating Contest

Feb. 8–12

Mines student clubs, organizations, Greek Life chapters and teams will decorate wooden hearts to showcase what they love most about Mines. Vote on your favorite design through 12 p.m. using the vote button on  idig.mines.edu/hearts. The winning team earns a $250 bonus to pay it forward to their favorite campus program.

Spirit Photo Contest

Feb. 8–12

Break out your hard hat, swag and Mines memorabilia or dig through your photo archive. Share your most spirited photo on Instagram, tag @minesalumni and @coloradoschoolofmines and compete for $150 in bonus funding for your favorite cause. Submissions close February 12 at noon.

Where’s Blaster?

Feb. 8–12

Download the #idigmines Giving Day 2026 illustration from idig.mines.edu/wheresblaster and race to find the hidden objects. The first 20 participants to complete the challenge will unlock $150 for the campus cause they choose.

Virtual Treasure Hunt

Feb. 8–12

The hunt goes nationwide. Several 3D-printed Golden Blasters will be hidden across the country starting February 8. Be the first to identify a location and unlock $150 for your favorite Mines cause. Details are available at idig.mines.edu/treasurehunt-virtual. Don’t forget to tag @minesalumni and @coloradoschoolofmines on Instagram.

Every gift made on February 12 helps power education, innovation and discovery at Mines, shaping what’s next for Orediggers today and for decades to come.
