Mines student receives U.S. National Security Agency fellowship

GOLDEN, Colo., May 1, 2015 – Santiago Gonzalez, a graduate student at Mines, has received a National Physical Science Consortium Graduate Fellowship from the U.S. National Security Agency.

The NPSC Graduate Fellowship is unique in that it lasts for six years and provides a $20,000 annual stipend in addition to tuition. Gonzalez’s fellowship is sponsored by the NSA, so he will be required to complete at least one paid summer internship at the agency.

Four teams place overall at Senior Design Trade Fair

GOLDEN, Colo., April 28, 2015 – Forty teams of students in the College of Engineering and Computational Sciences have spent the last two semesters working on projects to present at the Senior Design Trade Fair which was held April 23. Faculty, industry representatives and alumni judged teams on their ability to define, analyze and address a design problem and to present their work through display and dialogue.

Mines to celebrate Earth Day with campus block party on April 24

GOLDEN, Colo., April 17, 2015 – Mines student group, EarthWorks, will be hosting an Earth Day celebration April 24 1-4 p.m. on Kafadar Commons. With help from the Mines Activities Council, the group will host a block party that will include food trucks, a beer garden, bubble soccer, donation stations, a sustainability station and other eco-friendly activities.
