GOLDEN, Colo., May 14, 2014 –Colorado School of Mines received a research grant award for "Combustion Modeling of Explosive Gas Zones in Longwall Gobs" by the Alpha Foundation for the Improvement of Mine Safety and Health. The Foundation awarded $750,000 in short-term research grant awards targeting innovative solutions toward fulfilling its vision of enabling miners to be free of work-related injury and disease. Five research projects out of 53 submissions were approved for funding.
