GOLDEN, Colo., Oct. 17, 2012 –Colorado School of Mines has been recognized by several national and international rankings this fall, most recently by PayScale.com and Times Higher Education.
With an average starting salary of $64,200 for graduates with bachelor’s degrees, Colorado School of Mines ranked fourth in the nation for starting salaries in the state schools category -- just below the U.S. Military Academy, U.S. Naval Academy and the U.S. Air Force, according to the 2012-13 PayScale College Salary Report.
Mines ranks 7th for starting salary among public and private institutions, 3rd in the research universities category (behind Massachusetts Institute of Technology and California Institute of Technology) and 4th in the engineering schools category (behind MIT, Caltech and Harvey Mudd.)
Taking into account Mines mid-career salary average of $105,000, Mines ranks 22nd overall – tying with Yale University, Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute and Columbia University.
In the Times Higher Education World University Rankings, Mines makes the top 200 with a ranking of 184 out of 400.
According to its website, the Times Higher Education rankings are the “only global university performance tables to judge world class universities across all of their core missions - teaching, research, knowledge transfer and international outlook.”
