Mines to host 32nd Oil Shale Symposium

GOLDEN, Colo., Oct. 9, 2012 – The state of U.S. and global oil shale development will be the topic at the opening sessions of the 32nd Oil Shale Symposium at Colorado School of Mines on Oct. 15.

Dag Nummedal, Director of the Colorado Energy Research Institute at Mines, will introduce the opening speakers as the session kicks off at 1 p.m. at the Cecil H. and Ida Green Center, 924 16th St., Golden, Colo.

Panelists representing the U. S. Bureau of Land Management, the states of Utah and Colorado, the Center for the American West, Estonian shale oil producer Enefit, Western Resource Advocates, the National Oil Shale Association and the Center for Oil Shale Technology and Research at Mines will discuss the current status and future of oil shale development during the panel discussion.

More than 250 delegates from 16 countries outside North America and 17 states in the U.S. are expected to attend the two and one-half days of sessions on science, engineering, environmental, socioeconomic and policy issues relating to potential production of oil from oil shale.
