GOLDEN, Colo., Jan. 15, 2014 –The Colorado School of Mines community will commemorate Martin Luther King, Jr.’s birthday and celebrate his legacy with special events and lectures on campus during Delta Days beginning Jan. 20.
The week kicks off with the MLK Day Breakfast, during which, several faculty, staff and students will receive recognition for their work to enhance diversity across campus.
The celebration continues all week with birthday cake in honor of Martin Luther King, Jr. on Jan. 20 and games, presentations and discussions Jan. 21-24. On. Jan. 23, internationally known speaker and author Dr. Audrey Nelson will present “Your Generation or Mine? Managing the Generation Mix,” identifying and profiling the primary four-generation mixes that compose the workforce. Delta Days culminates with Hip Hop & Salsa Dance Night at 7:30 p.m. Jan. 24 in the Student Center Ballrooms.
Delta Days activities are supported by Halliburton. Mines sponsors include the Graduate Studies Office; Student Activities & Special Programs; Multicultural Engineering Program; CSM Alumni Association; Women in Science, Engineering and Mathematics; Admissions and Financial Aid; Human Resources; International Student and Scholar Services; Applied Mathematics & Statistics Department and the Mines chapters of the Society of Women Engineers, National Society of Black Engineers, Society of Hispanic Professional Engineers and Graduate Student Government.
