University Emeritus Professor David Matlock (MME) has been selected to receive the 2015 Henry Clifton Sorby Award by the International Metallographic Society. The award, presented annually, recognizes lifetime achievement in the field of metallurgy -- 25 years or more of dedication to research, teaching, or laboratory sales and service. Matlock presented a technical lecture at the annual IMS meeting in early August in Portland, Ore. Matlock started teaching at in 1972, and has served as director of the Advanced Steel Processing and Products Research Center. More than 400 publications, primarily related to microstructures and mechanical properties with an emphasis on steels, bear his name.
