Joe W. Gray, PhD, a 1968 Colorado School of Mines graduate in physics and a trailblazing inventor of biomedical engineering technologies for understanding, diagnosing and treating cancer, has made a $5 million gift to create the Joe and Jane Gray Endowed University Chair.

With funding from the Charles Pankow Foundation and the U.S. Forest Service, Shiling Pei and his team have begun a FEMA P695 study on the mass timber rocking wall lateral system, the first step toward submitting a proposal for an official update to the ASCE-7.

Colorado School of Mines celebrated its Spring 2024 Undergraduate Commencement on May 10, conferring a total of 962 bachelor’s degrees during three ceremonies at Lockridge Arena.
