Israel Jaramillo was awarded the first-ever American Geosciences Institute scholarship aimed at advancing diversity in the field.

Despite weighing nearly four times more than the average canoe, the Mines Concrete Canoe team has no plans to join Davy Jones’ locker after their performance in April.

Ethan Perry, a senior majoring in computer science at Colorado School of Mines, has been awarded a 2021-2022 Goldwater Scholarship, one of the preeminent STEM scholarships for undergraduate students

“This competition really required us to connect what we have learned throughout our courses and apply it to a real-world situation,” mining engineering senior Samantha McLeary said.

The annual awards recognize Mines faculty, students ands staff who develop innovative programs or policies that enhance diversity on campus, foster understanding and respect for diversity within the campus community, and initiate interactions between people of different backgrounds.

Two Colorado School of Mines students won awards in the virtual Fall 2020 Student Speaking Symposium hosted by ASM International.

Winning the semester-long design challenge was a solution to improve adherence to COVID-19 capacity limits in restaurants, retail stores and other spaces.

During the virtual ceremony, Mines awarded a total of 60 doctoral and 195 master’s degrees to December and August graduates.

Colorado School of Mines celebrated its Fall 2020 Undergraduate Commencement on Dec. 18, conferring a total of 275 bachelor’s degrees during a virtual ceremony.
