FantasE-Days to magically appear on campus April 9-11

GOLDEN, Colo., April 2, 2015 – Colorado School of Mines will celebrate E-Days with the theme, FantasE-Days, April 9-11. To kickoff E-Days, on April 8, the Alpha Phis will host Alpha-Traz. Members of our community will be put under “Cardiac Arrest,” and booked in the Alpha Phi Jail from 3-7 p.m. on Kafadar Commons. The Residence Hall Association will be organizing a Poker Tournament from 6:30-8:30 p.m. in Friedhoff Hall.

A schedule of E-Days events is below:

Thursday, April 9

  • Comedian Jimmy Tatro: 6:30-8:30 p.m., Bunker Auditorium
  • Casino Night: 8:30 p.m.-midnight, Friedhoff Hall
  • Mr. Big Digger: 8:45-10:30 p.m., Friedhoff Hall

Friday, April 10

  • Ore Cart Pull: 7:30 a.m.-1 p.m., Bus loads at Student Recreation Center, students will walk from Colfax & Robb to the Capitol
  • Military Appreciation Challenge: 1 p.m., Intramural Fields. Chinook, Blackhawk and MEDIVAC helicopters will be on display. 
  • Tesla Coil Demo: 1:30-2:30 p.m., Bunker Auditorium
  • Field Day: 2:30-5:30 p.m., Intramural Fields
  • Trebuchet Contest: 2:30-4 p.m., Intramural Fields
  • Select Historic Mining Competitions (gold panning for kids of all ages, Swede sawing, and double mucking), 1-4 p.m., Freshman Parking Lot, just north of the Intramural Fields off 19th and Elm Streets in Golden
  • Friday Night Event featuring Student DJs, Aerialists, and Fire breathers: 7-10 p.m. (doors at 6 p.m.), Intramural Fields

Saturday, April 11

  • Historic Mining Competitions (jackleg drilling and hand steeling) 8 a.m - noon, Freshman Parking Lot, just north of the Intramural Fields off 19th and Elm Streets in Golden
  • Car Show: 10 a.m.-3 p.m., Ford Lot
  • Cardboard Boat Race: 10 a.m.-noon, Clear Creek
  • Carnival: Noon-3 p.m., Intramural Fields, D Lot
  • Trouser Trot: 4-4:30 p.m., Kafadar Commons
  • Hoodie Allen: 7-9:30 p.m. (doors at 6 p.m.), Intramural Fields
  • Fireworks: 9:30 p.m., View on Intramural Field or Lot Q
