In celebration of DeltaDays, Mines Market featured “Favorite Dishes from Home.” Chefs showcased their interpretation of recipes submitted by international students during the lunch hour the week of DeltaDays.

A former Mines student came up with the word, DeltaDays, when asked to describe diversity to Mines’ scientific and engineering campus culture. In Mathematics, “delta” is defined as an incremental change in a variable.

“The goal of DeltaDays is to offer programming and events that serve as a catalyst in making ‘positive incremental changes’ in how our students, faculty and staff view and react to issues related to diversity and inclusion,” said Debra K. Lasich, Associate Vice President for Diversity and Inclusion. “DeltaDays is an opportunity to better understand how diversity, in all its many facets enriches the educational experience, promotes personal growth, strengthens communities, and enhances the economic competitiveness of our country.”

Delta Days activities are supported by Halliburton, Chevron and BP. Mines sponsors include the College of Earth Resource Sciences & Engineering, Residence Life, Graduate Student Government (GSG), Student Life Office, Multicultural Engineering Program (MEP), Women in Science, Engineering and Mathematics (WISEM) Office, Society of Women Engineers (SWE), Admissions & Financial Aid Office, Public Safety Office, CSM Alumni Association, Human Resources Office, Center for Academic Services & Advising (CASA), Applied Mathematics & Statistics Department, Mines Activity Council (MAC), and Diversity and Inclusion Office.
