GOLDEN, Colo., Jan. 23, 2013 – Dave Zanetell, Colorado School of Mines alumnus and project manager for the Hoover Dam Bypass Project, will deliver the keynote address during this year’s student Leadership Summit to be held on the university’s campus Feb. 2.

Zanetell is senior vice president of operations for Edward Kraemer & Sons, Inc., a 100-year-old national heavy civil and highway contractor. Prior to assuming his current position, he served as project manager for the Central Federal Lands Division of Federal Highway Administration, leading a multi-agency coalition responsible for the $240 million Hoover Dam Bypass.

The bypass project included two states, five federal agencies, and was completed through six heavy civil projects. Zanetell led all aspects of the project’s design, consultant management, contracting, and construction management efforts. It has been recognized for integrated design and construction management processes and was completed under original budget without dispute or claim. The project has received national and international acclaim, including the American Public Works Association’s Outstanding Major Project and the American Society of Civil Engineer’s prestigious Outstanding Project and Leader Award.

Mines’ Leadership Summit began in 2008 as a student-led student government project with faculty and staff support. For more information and this year’s full schedule, see the summit website.
