Camp receives Million Women Mentors' STEM award

During this year’s Women in Technology Conference, the Colorado Technology Association presented the very first Million Women Mentors’ (MWM) Stand Up For STEM Colorado Award to Tracy Camp, head of the Department of Computer Science at Mines.

Camp received the award as a result of her exceptional impact on girls and women in STEM. In 2012, she founded the Discover-Explore-Create Technology (DECtech) outreach program, bringing together Mines female students with girls in grades 3-8 to explore various topics in STEM. Mines students work with the DECTech participant using interactive, engaging and hands-on approach.

The award was co-presented at the conference by Colorado Lt. Governor Donna Lynne and Andrea Young, President and CEO of CTA.
