Corby AndersonMetallurgical and Materials Engineering Professor Corby Anderson has been named to the Academy of Engineers of the University of Idaho, where he earned his PhD in mining engineering and metallurgy.

The academy seeks to honor eminent engineers who are alumni of the University of Idaho or otherwise deeply connected to Idaho's strong legacy of global engineering impact. It recognizes individuals "for their personal contributions to engineering achievement, leadership, engineering education and service to the profession and society."

Anderson also holds a bachelor's in chemical engineering from Montana State University and a master's in metallurgical engineering from Montana Tech. He is an expert in the fields of extractive metallurgy, mineral processing, waste minimization and recycling, and a member of the Kroll Institute for Extractive Metallurgy. He also serves as the Harrison-Western Professor of Metallurgical and Materials Engineering.
