The Colorado School of Mines Material Advantage Chapter has been named a Chapter of Excellence for 2015-2016 and will be recognized at Materials Science and Technology 16, a technical meeting and exhibition, this October in Salt Lake City.

The Mines chapter received the Most Outstanding Chapter Award in 2013-2014 and 2014-2015. Chapters are judged on programming, career development, service, social activities and chapter management.

The Material Advantage program provides undergraduate and graduate students in materials science and engineering programs with memberships to four organizations at a lower cost: The American Ceramic Society, Association for Iron & Steel Technology, ASM International, and The Minerals, Metals & Materials Society.

The Mines Material Advantage Chapter is advised by Teaching Professor Gerald Bourne and Associate Professor Kip Findley, both of the Metallurgical and Materials Engineering Department.
