Mines has been awarded $240,024 from the Mine Safety and Health Administration to enhance training and emergency preparedness of its mine rescue teams. This is Mines' eighth year being awarded a portion of the MSHA's annual Brookwood-Sago grant, having received funding through the program since 2009. The Brookwood-Sago grant program was established under a provision of the Mine Improvement and New Emergency Response Act of 2006. Along with Mines, five other organizations have been awarded portions of the grant, totaling $1 million.
